
Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): The Kohima Lotha Students Union (KLSU) held 47th freshers’ day-cum-annual session on the theme ‘Endeavouring excellence’ at Molu Ki, Kohima, on Monday.
An update from KLSU informed that chief engineer, Police Engineering Project, Yanbemo Lotha, was the special guest and Prof. Y Ben Lotha, department of History & Archaeology, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, the theme speaker.
The theme speaker in his speech said that if one attempts to achieve something, then he or she has to endure hardship. Ben also lamented on the misuse of mobile phones, which greatly affect students in their academic performance and hinder their ability towards excellence.
“The nurture and foster of the students from their parents also greatly determine their performance,” he said and suggested that parents should play a vital role in the performance of the students.
Ben further said that time management is another important factor for the students towards a better goal.
The special guest in his address said sincerity, hardwork and one's choice are the stepping stone to success. Stating that government jobs are limited, Yanbemo urged the students to venture into new avenues by exploring the opportunities available to them.
Short speeches were also delivered by representatives from Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH), Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhung (KLEH), Lotha Students Union (LSU), NSF deputy speaker and Kohima Lotha Youth Organisation (KLYO).
Catechist, Lotha Catholic Khumshum, Y Abel Lotha, offered special prayer and blessings to the students.
Earlier, KLSU president, Lirhonthung E Kithan, in his welcome address urged the freshers to be an example of change in the society by following the good steps of the elders.
