Kohima, Oct. 14 (EMN): Kohima Khar Senso Telongjem (KKST) celebrated its 50th anniversary on the theme ‘Resourceful, refined and enlightened citizen’ on October 14 at Molu Ki, Kohima.
Speaking on the theme, OSD of Finance Department Kohima, Taliremba, has underlined on the importance of performing one’s fundamental duties to be qualified to become a refined citizen.
He maintained that honesty, hard work, perseverance, consistency and sincerity in all spheres of life are the values to become a refined and successful citizen. He further stressed on keeping a balance to be able to overcome all situations in life. ‘One should make a mark in the society by doing good and unique things’ he added.
Underscoring the need for a change in the society, the OSD said change can be possible only when each individual change. He called upon the gathering to be the agent of change and encouraged the citizens, particularly the young intellectuals to act responsibly and become leaders among the community.
In his brief address, Parliamentary Secretary of IT&C and Chairman DAN, Dr. Longrineken, called upon the union to retrospect the past and strive towards a better future for the welfare of the village as well as the region.
Stating that there are more blessings in unity and humility, Longrineken urged upon the members to be more humble and advocate truthfulness in all walks of life and also advised the youth not to forget their roots and to contribute towards the progress of their land.
The parliamentary secretary also released the jubilee souvenir.
Various leaders, who spoke on the occasion, stressed on rebuilding the society and work towards transforming the State for greater achievement.
Earlier in the programme, a silent prayer was observed in honour of the departed leaders.
