The first time I met Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie was in 2003 at Kohima when both of us were elected as Members of the 10th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, He from NPF party, Me as an Independent. He was physically twice the size of mine with a deep vocal yet rarely spoken. Subsequently he was elected as the Speaker of the 10th House. I came to know that, prior to election, he served as Additional Director of Excise, and therefore, I thought that he must be a good drinker of liquor being as senior officer I/C of Excise, but I was proved terribly wrong, because he was a total teetotaller and a devote Christian, whereas I was not and still no match to his Christian devotion. His deep vocal was so matching to his dignified personality as the Presiding Officer of the 10th House of the Nagaland Assembly. I have tried on several occasions to provoke his temper but always came out futile, and never had the opportunity of witnessing his temper till he breathed his last.
Among the many good qualities, I have clearly and distinctly noticed was his respect and loyalty to the Rule of Law and discipline, perhaps his faithfulness to the truth was inherent in his character.
I have never had the experience of witnessing Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie making non-sense jokes or even humour. Very less spoken yet always spoke only the truth. His loyalty to the political principle was perhaps one of the hallmarks in his understanding of politics, in short, he was a dependable Politician.
The way, Mr. Kiyanelie Peseyie conducted the business of the 10th Nagaland Legislative Assembly was just like himself He was the Presiding Officer of the House, I have never heard any single word spoken against him by any Members throughout his 10th House tenure, yet only earned respect from every Member because of his personal judgement on any issue-based decisions. There was no occasion for any Members to accuse him of partisan attitude nor in his presiding. This is one of the major reasons behind his re-election consecutively for the 1 1 th House of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
If his first tenure as Speaker was good, his second tenure was even better. As Member of the Ruling Bench (Minister) I was confident of myself, because, there was Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie as the Hon'ble Speaker of the House. We wanted him to be our Speaker for the 3'1 Consecutive term, but only because of his other Public interest, we could not avail the honour and privilege of Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie as our most honourable and admirable Speaker, breaking all previous records of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and even within the Indian Union.
The most non-controversial yet admirable person, Mr. Kiyanilie Peseyie has done his earthly work and left for his heavenly Home where, he has already joined with the heavenly fall and singing and walking joyously with them on the streets of pure gold and disturbed by no earthly burdens but always ever singing face to face with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let the beloved Members of the Late. Kiyanilie Peseyie be find solace in the grace of our Lord and be blessed always. With this few unpolished condolence words me and my family join in your bereavement.
