Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): Members of the Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) repaired portions of a road between Peducha and Kiruphe Bawe/Basa, said to be the only alternative route connecting the state’s capital, Kohima, to Manipur state.
An update that was received from the KYO stated that on Sep. 3, the KYO volunteers repaired and widened narrow portions of the “by-pass” road.
A driver who joined the community work said, “Some people are liberally working for reconstruction of roads for smooth functioning but many responsible educated youths keep on barking in social media.”
He urged the citizens to extend help in restoring roads as Nagaland is facing alarming situation this year due to incessant rains.
It may be mentioned that a major landslide occurred on NH-29 between Kiruphema and Kohima due to incessant rains.
The movement of vehicles was hindered near the old Kohima Municipal Council’s garbage dumping area.
