Dimapur, Sep. 26 (EMN): Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme, free LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) cylinders were distributed to two hundred beneficiaries in Kiphire district on Sep. 26 by the district administration.
A DIPR news update informed that the scheme was launched in May 2016 by the government of India for women living below poverty line in the country. The main aim of the programme is to empower women and to prevent them from the common health hazards caused by smoke.
Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Mohammed Ali Shihab, IAS while distributing the LPG to the beneficiaries, appealed them not to sell it because the scheme has been borne free of cost by the central government and added that more LPGs will be given out, the DIPR report stated.
