Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): Kiphire district has observed the World Population Day on July 11 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall on the theme "Start a meaningful tomorrow with family planning" with the deputy commissioner of Kiphire, Mohammad Ali Shihab, as the special guest.
Addressing the functions DC challenged the officers of the departments to perform their duty with dignity and sincerity. He also highlighted on the problems faced in hospitals as there are no proper infrastructure even though lots of emphasis were given.
He opined that giving awareness programme only would not bring about changes. He added that proper equipment should be available so that the people of Kiphire will not face problems or hindrances in days to come. He also mentioned about the shortage of doctors and nurses in the hospitals.
Additional director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bendangla Longkumer highlighted on the significance of the day, while counsellor of FPA India, Nagaland branch, Ville Rhetso explained the activities and roles played by NGOs in promoting family planning.
