Kiphire District Planning and Development Board reviewed development projects, planned a tour to Khongsa Block, and decided to act against adulterated medicines.

DIMAPUR — The Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, on October 15 at the DPDB conference hall, Kiphire.
According to a DIPR report, Longkumer, reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, emphasised the implementation of the PM Gati Shakti Portal and reminded concerned departments to ensure timely coordination for holistic infrastructure and connectivity development in Kiphire.
During the discussion of the day’s agenda, the board decided to organise a tour programme to Khongsa Block in November after the DPDB meeting.
The initiative aims to monitor developmental activities and enhance grassroots-level engagement in the district. The tour will cover key project sites, facilitate interactions with local leaders and communities, and assess the implementation of government schemes and developmental initiatives in the region.
Officials from various departments will form part of the delegation.

The visit seeks to strengthen coordination between the district administration and block-level functionaries, ensuring that public services are effectively delivered to the people of Khongsa Block. In this regard, the board entrusted the district administration, medical, public works, agriculture and allied departments, and social welfare department to make necessary logistical arrangements.
Superintendent of Police, Kiphire, Chinese Chakesang, informed the board about the circulation of adulterated medicines and pharmacies operating without valid licences in the district.
Acknowledging this as a serious public health concern, the board decided to conduct a special drive to check adulterated medicines and unlicensed pharmacies in Kiphire. The deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, and drugs inspector from the CMO and MS offices were assigned to conduct the drive effectively.
The superintendent of police also briefed the board on the ongoing police recruitment process and shared the status of applications received as of October 14, in the district.
Principal of Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire, Dr. Phyobenthung, informed the board about the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 (District Round) to be hosted by the college on October 4 for Kiphire district. He elaborated on the programme, its eligibility criteria and sought wider participation.
He also requested the district education officer, Kiphire, to disseminate information to higher secondary schools.
The deputy commissioner informed departments dealing with the Aspirational District Programme (ADP) to submit their reports to the district administration for timely processing.
DC Peren reports on African Swine Fever
The Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, has issued an order stating that, in continuation of the earlier office order dated July 29, confirming the case of African Swine Fever in and around the Peren district, the import of pork and pigs from the district is banned with immediate effect.
The order stated that strict action shall be initiated against defaulters as per the relevant sections of the law.
