Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): The Citizens Welfare Society (CWS) of Kiphire, while appreciating the Nagaland State Transport department for admitting the shortcomings, has stated that the society visited the NST’s Kiphire office twice “but no concern officer (sic) were in the station and while interacting with some of the staff it was confirmed that the bus services has been stopped.”
The society issued press statement on Saturday saying: “However, it’s a naked truth and general public knows how the service is offered. Kiphire being situated in the most remotest part of the state and having the longest distance covered from the state capital should have pliable and good-condition vehicles. But most of the time, as stated by the department, Kiphire buses break down, either halfway o rat the station as the buses are in worst condition and outdated.
“Regarding shortage of passengers, it is to be clarified that since the NST service is very irregular, the commuters are uncertain of the service and therefore citizens opt for Dimapur services even if they are to go to Kohima; and so there might be short of passengers sometimes. But since it’s a public transport service, the government should provide regular and on daily basis irrespective of full passengers or half passengers as there is a two-way transport,."
The NST department had on May 3 told Eastern Mirror that bus services from Kiphire to Kohima were still functioning.
