DIMAPUR, JUNE 22: Following the media reports over non-payment of dues to 40 Naga youth working in Rajkot, Gujarat, the State Department of Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship today said, Bharat Bhai, owner of King’s Catering has assured to settle their salary issue by July 3.
The state government is monitoring the situation and appropriate steps are being taken to resolve the issue, said a press note issued by Muthingnyuba Sangtam, Director, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
The government of Nagaland through the intervention of Chief Secretary, Nagaland, had asked the Principal Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, New Delhi to pursue the matter for resolution. The Principal Resident Commissioner has reported today that Bharat Bhai has assured to settle the issue. Principal Resident Commissioner has also spoken to Karan Vaghela, D.C.P.(Zone II), Rajkot, who has assured his full cooperation in settling the issue.
Meanwhile, reacting to complaint of youth in media, the department clarified that “Department Officer contacted Athobo Sumi and his wife Toihan Konyak who stated that they had been working for the last 2 to 3 years with these Naga youth in King’s Catering, Baroda arranged at their own initiative through the help of a private recruiter who had placed the said 19 Naga girls and 25 Naga boys. It is learnt that they got four months contract at Rajkot till 16th May 2016 with a pay package of Rs.10, 000/- P.M. along with free food and lodging. However, the Catering Company is yet to pay them their last one month’s salary for which the present issue had cropped up.”
