Dimapur, July 6
The ACAUT Nagaland has said, non-transparency in awarding SK Oil license for the last 10 to 15 years is the chief reason for fuel adulteration and that the government is directly responsible.
Expressing shock over the fact that kingpins of the fuel adulteration racket are also SK Oil agents, the Media Cell, ACAUT Nagaland in a press note said, out of the 6 main kingpins involved in the fuel racket, Dinanath, Srikanth, and Umesh are also SK Oil Agents operating under Power of Attorney.
Quoting sources from the F&CS Department, the ACAUT said, Agencies for SK Oil have ‘awarded’ to the same persons for decades without resorting to transparent and open tendering processes.
“Therefore, it is not surprising that out of the approximate 14,00,000 (14 lakh) litres of SK oil given to the State per month as quota, several lakh litres are diverted to the black market where it is mainly utilized for fuel adulteration purpose. The ACAUT mentioned that the petrol pumps/fuel outlets are also the distributing points for SK Oil. It said, in most cases, the fuel outlet owners end up as SK oil Agents as well.
Meanwhile, the ACAUT clarified that Lalmohan, proprietor of 5 petrol pumps, is not the owner of any of the 6 fuel adulteration units busted on June 27, and there is no reason to believe that his fuel outlets are selling adulterated fuel unless proven otherwise.
“Therefore, while Lalmohan, Nirmal Jain, PCTC and Sumit Jain should not be linked to the now busted 6 fuel adulteration units, the police and the state government should immediately probe the connection between SK Oil Agents and the overall fuel adulteration issue since the core issue is diversion of SK Oil for adulteration purpose.”
