Kohima, Sep. 27 (EMN): Kijumetouma Village Students' Union (KVSU) and Sports Link FC won their respective matches to enter the second round of the ongoing NSF Martyrs' Memorial Trophy football tournament held at the Kohima local ground on Thursday.
KVSU blanked Botsa Students' FC 4-0 in their first match of the tournament.
Sikito A Chishi scored a brace of goals, while an own goal from Botsa's defender Dziesevilie Sanchu and later Neitho’s goal in the second half helped the team win the match.
Playing the 80-minute game, Sanchu’s own goal handed the lead for KVSU in the seventh minute. Chishi scored two successive goals in the 18th and 34th minute to make it 3-1 at the end of the first half.
Neitho-o added the fourth goal in the 42nd minute in the second half as the team were held on for a win till the end of the final whistle.
KVSU will now take on St Joseph College Jakhama in the next round on October 4.
In the second match, Sports Link FC defeated Tyro FC Phek by a solitary goal.
Sports Link FC dominated the game and it was Thangao Shupao who scored in the 34th minute.
The team wasted numerous opportunities in the second half to double the lead. But in the end the lone goal was enough for the team to put them through to the next round.
Sports Link FC will play against Phesama Youth Organisation on Oct.5 in the second round.
