Dimapur, Jan. 23 (EMN): Kigwema Youth Organisation (KYO) has condemned the action of 9 Assam Rifles stationed at Tsiesema (Chieswema) for raiding the house of one Vizeto Yano for the second on December 23 at Kigwema village.
While testifying Vizeto Yano as a bonafide law abiding citizen, KYO vice president Siezo Kere has accused the Assam Rifles personnel of indulging in nefarious activity for a second time by planting a pistol in his house.
“The raid was nothing less than a fake encounter and the KYO wonders why the AR chose to harass innocent civilian at a time when Nagas are in a heightened spirit to forgive and forget in a Christmas celebrative mood,” the organisation questioned.
While condemning the action, KYO has cautioned the AR authority to stop operating on the tip of such type of unreliable persons who do and say anything for money, before the public completely loses faith in the country’s armed forces.
“Vizeto Yano is the son of Siesa Yano, a known licensed gunsmith of Kigwema and Kohima who has been repairing guns since the last more than 50 years (from 1960s till date). The father along with his sons, repair our muzzle loading guns and shotguns used by our people on all festive and ceremonial occasions like festivals, traditional gate-pulling, stone pulling, funerals etc. and should not be treated like common criminals,” the statement added.
The organisation has also termed as unfortunate on the part of the state police personnel, who were deputed from Khuzama police station under the officer in charge as witness, for failing on their responsibility to ascertain the facts.
KYO has urged the concerned authority to thoroughly investigate the case and bring out the facts to justify the action.
