DIMAPUR — The Kigwema village celebrated a combined pre-Teachers’ Day on September 3 at the village council hall for the staff and faculty of the educational institutions within Kigwema village, which fall under the school education sector.
Dr. Kevizake Rio, the joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha, Department of School Education, attended the day as the guest speaker.
The day witnessed a science model exhibition, folk song, aerobic dance, wiggle and giggle, and a tribute speech presented by students of five schools, namely Government Higher Secondary School, Kigwema; Government Middle School, Kigwema; Government Primary School Sector ‘C’, Kigwema; Government Primary School, Kipfüzha, Kigwema; and St. Edmund’s School, Kigwema, thereby adding vibrance to the occasion.

A total of eighty-eight serving staff and faculty were acknowledged.
Dr. Rio engaged the audience with memories of his younger days in Kigwema village. He went on to share the transformative role of Samagra Shiksha, a centrally sponsored scheme, in realising education in Nagaland.
He emphasised the novelty of teaching as a rewarding profession, underlined by the students’ achievements and the lifetime respect earned from society.
