Shillong, June 11 (EMN): A two-year-old child, kidnapped from her house in Silchar in Assam for nearly a week, was rescued from Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya today, police said.
The child was abandoned by kidnappers at a barber’s shop and local people informed the police who took her into their safe custody, SP Spill Thamar said.
“Having gone through the description of the kidnapped girl, we found it matched and all formalities were followed,” the SP said.
Trisha, daughter of Prof. Subhodeep Chodhury and Dr. Shatbikha Choudhury who are teachers of the Assam University, Silchar was kidnapped from the residential campus of the varsity on June 5 by their maid Neha Bakti along with the help of two men.
DY365 Bureau reports stated the police have nabbed Neha’s male partner Vijay and Sebul Hussain, driver of Prof. Chodhury’s car were arrested by the police for their involvement in the abduction case.
However, the kingpin Neha is still absconding report stated.
