Kicker’s Football Club Chumukedima, Christo Naga’s Club, Young Excels Khonoma and Billy Graham FC marked win on the fourth day of the 15th edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy played under the theme ‘Goal for Peace’ here in the Local ground on Saturday.
Playing the first match, coming from behind in second half, Kicker’s FC Chumukedima defeated Chiechama Students’ Union by 5-1.
Chiechama SU managed to score an early goal through Khrielavotuo Chadi with in the first sixth minute and continued to uphold the lead for the first 35 minutes. Nonetheless, it was only in the ninth minute of the second half (44th minute of the game) that T. Meren brought Kicker’s FC back to the game with the much needed equalizer. Colleague T. Wati gave the lead within next three minutes. Thereafter, it was no stoppage for the winners as the next 15 minutes witnessed another three goals against the first scorers.
Mhasi scored the third goal in 49th minute while T. Meren added his second in the 54th minute while Mhasi sealed the score board with the fifth in 60th minute.
Christo Naga’s Club also humiliated Falcon FC, Chiechama by 6-0 in the second match of the day.
Salim Peter opened the flood gates by scoring the fastest goal of the tournament in the second minute and also added two more goals (second & third) in the sixth and eighth minute respectively. This was followed by Julish Dangmei opportunity to net the fourth lead in 14th minute to keep Falcon FC trailing behind.
After the lemon break, Salim added his fourth and fifth goals in the 48th and 52nd minute respectively to become the leading scorer of the tourney and also the second player to score a hat-trick.
In a slow paced third game of the day, Young Excels Khonoma knocked Jakha Town Youth Society, Jakhama by 3-1 via tie-breaker as the teams were locked in goalless draw during the stipulated 70 minutes play.
The last match of the day was also a high scoring game with Billy Graham FC nailing Medical XI by 6-0.
Theja opened the flood gates in fifth minute and fifth in the 63rd minute. Avi also netted two goals netted (2nd & 4th) in the 11th and 33rd minutes respectively. The third goal was netted by Khrielazotuo Mepfüo in the 19th minute while Chenwanglym added the 5th goal in the 55th minute.
Earlier, on Friday Tyrants FC Khuzama defeated Nagaland University FC by 4-2. Scorers for Tyrants – first goal by Vilhouvoto in 20th minute, Khrievi Thapru scored two goals in 22nd minute and 44th minute while Ketozo Thapru scored the fourth in 66th minute. Nagaland University scored their two goals in the injury added time of the first half and 68th minute through Shurhozelie.
Rengma Students’ Union blanked Jovial FC (B) Kenuozou by 8-0 with Yhunshalo Kemp scoring four goals to become the first hat-trick scorer of the tourney.
It was Senenlo Tep opening the account for RSU in the third minute followed by Yhunshalo adding second and third in 14th and 25th minute respectively. Sinenlo Kath scored the fourth in the injury added time to lead the first half by 4-0.
After the lemon break, Yhunshalo Kemp scored the first hat-trick of the tournament in the 49th minute and also his fourth in 55th minute. Thereafter, Khanjilo Wanth scored two goals (seventh and eighth) in 58th and 63rd minute respectively.
DEF Kohima defeated Piphema Students’ Union by 6-1 in the third match.
Dakho Venuh netted first in 8th minute followed by Robert Lotha scoring second and third in 12th and 23rd minute respectively. Lithungbemo Lotha also scored two goals in the 55th and injury added time of second half while Bendangnochet Ao scored the fifth goal in 60th minute.
The only face saver Piphema Students’ Union was scored by Kikrukhrielie Kuotsu in 18th minute.
In yesterday’s last match, Chedema Village Students’ Union triumphed over Country Boys FC by a solitary goal scored by Neingusalie in the dying moments of the match.
Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee of the Trophy has informed the general public that following the vehicle requisition at the Kohima Local Ground by district administration from October 13 to 16 for the forthcoming bye-election to the Northern Angami II A/C, some matches of this edition have been scheduled even on Sundays. In this connection, the general public and players have been informed to take note of the same as such arrangement has been necessitated due to limited playing days.
