  • MOKOKCHUNG — The Kichutip Sporting Association (KSA), under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), has announced the first Under-15 Futsal Tournament, scheduled for July 1–3 at Mujabi Futsal Turf, Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung.

  • The announcement was made at a press conference held at Arok Salang on Saturday.

  • On the occasion KSA president Imtichiba Kichu spoke about the association’s activities since its formation in 1998 under the motto “Greater Heights”. Marking its 25th anniversary in 2023, KSA now has over 200 registered members, with several having participated in national and international competitions.

  • Kichu described the Under-15 tournament, themed “Rise up,” as a milestone in KSA’s efforts to provide a platform for young athletes, marking its first major grassroots football initiative.

  • Tinukaba Longchar, convenor of the tournament planning committee, revealed that the idea stemmed from KSA’s silver jubilee resolutions. He noted its alignment with school summer vacations, making it an ideal time for young players.

  • “While there are many tournaments for youth and seniors, structured platforms for children are scarce. This event bridges that gap,” Longchar added.

  • The 6-a-side tournament welcomes teams from across Nagaland, with confirmed entries from Dimapur, Mokokchung, among others.

  • Open to players born on or after January 1, 2010, the registration deadline is June 15. A prize pool of INR 80,000 includes cash awards for the champion, runners-up, and semi-finalists, along with three individual accolades. KSA aims to establish the tournament as an annual event, with plans for a baby league to senior division in the pipeline.

  • Taliwapang, a planning committee member, emphasised that the tournament aligns with KSA’s long-term vision for grassroots sports and games development.

  • The event is supported by NI Enterprise and Longterok FC, with additional partners including HPCL, MKG Sports Store, Moalong Sounds & Lights, Dots & Lines, Kichu Towing, R&M Stay, and others.

  • Registration forms are available at AOR Coffee (3rd floor, MCCI Building, Arkong Ward), Fix Your Fixation (Arkong Ward, outside Yongpang Market), MKG Sports Store (opposite MMC Shopping Mall, Dilong Ward), and G-Sports (next to The Magnus Hotel, Alongmen Ward).
