Nagaland Designer Association (NDA) under the theme “Inspire” will be organising its first edition of Nagaland Fashion Week (NFW) to celebrate and discover the major milestones of the ingenious fashion works of Naga fashion designers from June 22 to 24 at Theja Fort Dimapur. This was stated during a press conference held at Circuit House, Dimapur on Saturday.
The fashion show will be graced by Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board MLA Khuzholuzo Nienu as the chief guest.
NDA is said to be the first in fashion designing from Nagaland. The association is managed by 31 members including 22 designers, five logistic members and four impact team members. The association also runs a showroom known as ‘Fashion Theatre’ in Kohima.
The jury members of the show will be Director, Hope Centre for Excellence Zubeno Mozhui, Senior Designer Bambi Kevechusa and Pattern Designer Benthunga Kithan.
During a press conference NDA President Rosou Rhi, highlighted the events and activities which will take place during the show.
He also highlighted the aims and objectives of the show which includes ‘to provide a platform to the upcoming designers, models, photographers, make-up artist, career in fashion and fashion boutique owners to showcase their creative designs.’ ‘To encourage designers to participate in state, national and international levels, to transmogrify the rich, vivacious traditional Naga attire into modern styles and to promote their market of ethnic Naga inspired designer’s label within and outside the state.’
The show is said to be of three categories namely emergent, novice and enthusiast.
The President also highlighted that the association will provide free sponsorship to the winners of all the categories. He said for emergent category winner, free sponsorship will be provided during northeast fashion week, winners of novice will be given one month free internship outside the state and for enthusiast category winner will be sponsored three months free training within the state.
About 50 famous designers from outside the state including Guwahati and Shillong will participate in the show.
The associate sponsors of the show are Women Resource Development and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and co-sponsors are Innovation, Bamboo Development Agency, Abeto Shohe photography, Johny D’Ascoli makeup artist, Hetika Cafe, Vivo, Music Channel, Hotel Theja Fort, Yashvi Jain and Ngaland Post as media partner.
The organisers informed that the registration is extended till June 20.
It may be noted that NDA first came into existence in 2011 which was launched by former Chief Minister and MP Neiphiu Rio and registered under Home Department.
