Kohima, Sep. 6 (EMN): Khriekesa FC overpowered Addax FC 3-0 in the first semifinal match and entered the finals of the ongoing KTC Cup 2017at the Kohima local ground on Wednesday.
During the match, Nyithong Magh scored a stunning free kick outside the d-box area in the 11th minute to give the deserving lead for Khriekesa FC.
Yhunshalo Kemp, skipper of Khriekesa FC got numerous chances in the first half but failed to convert. Addax FC were lucky to be a goal down in the first half as Khriekesa FC dominated the game and look threatening but lacked the finishing touch as the first half ended 1-0.
Khriekesa made a slow start in the second half and Addax FC took the opportunity for counter attacks but couldn’t get past the goalkeeper.
Khriekesa’s goalkeeper Medophrezo Kezie-o made vital saves in the game to keep the team alive and did prevent talisman Imlongchaba from scoring any goal who had earlier scored two goals in the quarterfinal match against Forerunners’ FC.
With 21 minutes remaining, Yhunshalo Kemp got his name in the scoresheet as he converted a penalty and Kekhriengulie Usou completed the treble in the 79th minute for Khriekesa to make it 3-0.
Addax FC rued their missed opportunities that came their way and had to blame themselves as they failed to keep the pace with the opponent.
During the match, two yellow cards were awarded to Khriekethozo of Addax FC and Kekhriese Ciesotsu of Khriekesa FC.
Thepfuhulie Belho, an entrepreneur from Kohima was the match patron of the day.
