Kohima, August 28 (EMN): Kekhriengulie Usou’s hat-trick helped Khriekesa FC to a 3-3 draw with 5th place Nagabazar FC in the last round of the Kohima Football League on Monday. With the draw, Khriekesa FC team is out of title contention but will secure a top four position in the league standing.
In the last match, Khriekesa FC team were able to fight for a point, thanks to individual brilliance from Kekhriengulie Usou in the second half as they ended the season with a six goal thriller and secured a point after two consecutive defeat. Khriekesa FC ended the tournament with 11 points from three wins, two draws and two losses in the league. During the match, Neiphivilie Seyie scored the only goal in the first half in the 43rd minute for Nagabazar.
The second half saw competition from both the teams as five goals were scored in a span of 28 minutes.
The defensive error from Nagabazar side in the second half handed Khriekesa FC the equaliser through Kekhriengulie Usou. He headed the goal into the empty net in the 54th minute through a cross from Ruokuovolie Phewhuo after the defender failed to clear the long ball inside the danger area.
But Nagabazar’s talisman Kezhose with his brilliance scored a stunner as he collected the ball outside the box and smashed the unstoppable ball into the net in the 62nd minute to take the lead with 2-1.
Within two minutes, Kekhriengulie Usou headed the ball again into the net as Ruokuovolie Phewhuo set him up to score in the 64th minute.
In a goal thriller, Kezhose doubled his tally as his teammate Kehtoletuo Dzeyie latches him an excellent cross and he headed the ball pass the keeper into the net in the 71st minute.
As the match was heading towards a Nagabazar FC win, Kekhriengulie Usou headed a late equaliser to make it 3-3 as the two sides had to settle for a draw in an entertaining encounter. With three goals, Kekhriengulie became the 3rd hat-trick scorer of the Kohima Football League 2017.
Nagabazar FC defensive error paid them the price in the second half as they had to share a point each.
While Khriekesa’s striker Petevizo got numerous chances during the game but failed to convert as the team suffered a blow in the title race. Petivizo did score twice during the match but were called off for offside.
