KOHIMA, OCTOBER 25
Tsütuonuomia Khel of Kohima village celebrated its khel day today at Mission Compound with Khriehu Liezietsu, Parliamentary Secretary of Youth Resources & Sports, Music Task Force & State Lotteries, as the chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, Khriehu, while noting with concern on the lack of work culture among the people in today’s time, asserted that everyone has to earn one’s livelihood through sweat and hard work and pressed on the need to practice work culture.Also while pointing out that government jobs has reached its saturation point, he encouraged the youngsters to opt for sports and music industry which, he said has high scope as a career. Talking of the many schools and centres which were available right at our doorstep, he encouraged those interested in music and sports to take up classes and coaching to hone their skills and talents.
While assuring of all his help, cooperation and support to the people for the betterment and uplift of the village, he called upon all the citizens to live in peace, unity and harmony.
Chairman of T Khel Council, Viliethie Solo, in his short speech, narrated on the history and origin of Tsütuonuomia khel where the first khel day was celebrated on October 25, 1879.
Neivor Rutsa, chairman of Kohima Village Council, stressed on the need and importance of respecting elders and leaders of the society. He urged upon the people to uphold, honor and respect the law and order framed by the authority so that the people could live in peace and harmony and march towards progress and development not only confining to a particular area or place but to the whole Naga society as a whole.
He also advised the people not to let westernisation and so called modernisation to influence and degrade our good culture, traditions, values and morals.
It may be noted that Tsütuonuomia khel comprised of four clans namely Solo, Sekhose, Belho, Suohu, Zatsu and Phewhuo/Whuorie.
Tsütuonuomia Khel choir and Ledilhounuo Sekhose enthralled the gathering with their special numbers. The programme was chaired by K Neibou Sekhose, Convenor of Organising Committee, while the invocation was offered by Dr. Satuo Sekhose and the vote of thanks proposed by Kehousinyü Solo, secretary T Khel.
