Traffic police personnel get their share of vegetables from the SHGs in Kohima on Wednesday.

Kohima, April 22 (EMN): In the midst of an unprecedented lockdown to beat coronavirus, the collective strength of women self-help groups (SHGs) from Khonoma village on Wednesday came out to distribute vegetables to elderly people and frontline workers in Kohima.

Vegetables distribution was initiated by 20 SHGs from Khonoma, divided into two village level organisations under Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) through community participation in sourcing the vegetables for senior citizens, widows and widowers of Khonoma village dwelling in Kohima.

The group also distributed vegetables to frontline workers — medical fraternity, traffic and police personnel, Kohima Municipal Council and district administration and fire personnel.

Meanwhile, Khonoma Rüffüno Kohima extended its heartfelt gratitude to the groups for taking up such voluntary initiative and reaching out to people in this difficult times.
