Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) undertook a twelve-day road repairing work from Noklak headquarters to Pathso EAC headquarters, one of the oldest roads within its jurisdiction which was constructed in the year 1966.
According to KSU information secretary L Shingnya the road is the lone lifeline for the people of Pathso area connecting Noklak headquarters covering seven villages.
Shingnya stated that many unexpected accidents had taken placed in the past due to bad road condition. He has resented apathy of the state government to repair the aged-old road which is the only link between Noklak and Pathso area.
He alleged that the concerned department and state government had turned deaf ears to the voice of the people despite appeals made by several organisations.
The road in question being the only link, KSU took the initiative to uplift the people economically and socially. The union expressed displeasure as most of the roads within Khiamniungan jurisdiction has been left unattended despite several appeals.
KSU has sought support from all public, village councils and churches in maintaining the roads.
Meanwhile, the union has appreciated Pathso area councils and churches, Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association, Kusong village council and Thang village council and individuals for their contributions in cash, materials and man labour. The KSU also thanked the Executive Engineer PWD, Noklak, for providing the machineries.
