DIMAPUR, Dec. 2: With the aim to promote unity and strengthen the relationship between the Naga brothers, Khezhakeno village under Phek district and Lazami under Zunheboto district held brotherhood fellowship at Lazami village with president Sümi Hoho (SH), Toniho Yeptho and former president Chakhesang Public organization (CPO) Sovenyi as guests of honour on November 30.
Toniho Yeptho in his address congratulated the pioneers and elders of the Khezhakeno and Lazami for initiating the brotherhood fellowship between the two villages which would usher greater ties and bond, not only between these two villagers, but between Sumi and Chakhesang and also to all the Nagas.
Narrated forefathers’ tale that passed down to the present generations, he said Sumis and Chakhesangs were blood brothers and from the same ancestral. He said with the passage of time after generations, the true spirit of brotherhood and relationship fades but it should be strengthen without any hesitation to extend brotherly help to one another in times of need. Yeptho reminded that both the villagers should be emotionally and culturally integrated and further encouraged to keep the strings of good attachment and ties of relationship and pass to the younger generations.Sovenyi in his address said that they were brothers not by choice but by blood, and historically the two villagers were branched out from the same village, but with time the present generations almost forget each other. Lauding the Sümi community, he said Sümi has many good qualities and traits like respecting elders, sincerity, hard working, patriotic and women are consider as good wife and mother. Stressing on Naga Hoho issue, Sovenyi appealed the Sümi Hoho to rethink the decision of withdrawing from Naga Hoho and stay together as family for stronger and better relationship.
Speaking on behalf of Khezhakeno, senior advocate, Timikha Koza expressed gratitude to Lazami village for organizing the programme. He appealed both the communities to have healthy relationship.
Earlier, migration monolith was unveiled by Sovenyi, former President, CPO and Brotherhood fellowship monolith was unveiled by Sumi Hoho presiden, Toniho Yeptho.
The programme was chaired by Principal of Life Insurance Training Institute, Danis Achumi, with invocation prayer proposed by OFM Capuchin, Rev. Fr. Vinoto, welcome address was delivered by Joshua Achumi, former deputy speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, while
vote of thanks was proposed by of Lazami Village Council, Yikuto Achumi and benediction was pronounced by CRC Sodzulhou Dimapur, Rev. Bulechu Koza. Cultural presentations were presented by the villagers of both the villages.
