- DIMAPUR — The
collective leadership of the Khango-led NSCN (K) had a closed-door meeting with
the Centre’s representative AK Mishra at Dimapur on February 20 “to deliberate
on the Naga political issue.”
- A press release issued by the group on Saturday stated that
its leaders had apprised Mishra of their stance and the Naga National Political
Alliance’s (NNPA) desire “echoing the aspiration of the Nagas for an early
amicable and honourable solution, one that includes all the stakeholders.”
- Representatives of the government of India “reviewed the
present Naga political landscape, which has shifted from the focus on sincere
implementation of the existing agreements to a struggle over ownership and
legitimacy,” it stated, adding that “this ambiguity has perplexed the Nagas and
the NNPA.”

- “To ensure an inclusive solution, the NSCN (K), on behalf of
the NNPA, once again reiterates its stance, as expressed to the representatives
of GoI in the previous official meetings, that the NNPA will present its own
Charter of Demands/Competencies that would be a crucial part of the proposed
‘Common Draft’.
- “However, the NSCN (K) categorically emphasises that the
‘Competencies’ should be agreed upon by the government of India by sitting
across the table for any further steps to be executed for the final solution,”
it added.
