Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, on Wednesday said that his key focus will be on entrepreneurship, initiation of job-creating avenues and long-term sustainable development works.

He was addressing a gathering during an election campaign for the upcoming state general election scheduled to be held on February 27.

Longkumer, who won the 26 Aonglenden Assembly Constituency bypoll in 2019 on a Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) ticket, will contest from the same seat in upcoming poll.

‘We are living in a progressive world where employment opportunities are based on merit, therefore, our political mission should also change,’ said the NLA Speaker.

Sharingain added that a BJP-NDPP co-ordination meeting will be held soon so that both the parties can chalk out ways to win the upcoming election.

Longkumer toured NDPP units in Ungma, Dilong and Arkong besides interacting with the Arkong Ward Authority during the campaign. He was accompanied by top BJP officials from Mokokchung and officials from NDPP central office, Mokokchung region, and 26 Aonglenden AC.
