Kevingunyü Mere is Mr. Kohima 2019

[caption id="attachment_283077" align="alignnone" width="565"] Mr. Kohima 2019 Kevingunyü Mere flanked by first runner-up Vizotuo Sothu (right) and second runner-up Limaonen Jamir (left) at the RCEMPA, on Saturday at Jotsoma in Kohima.[/caption] Kevingunyü Mere was declared Mr. Kohima 2019 while Vizotuo Sothu and Limaonen Jamir were adjudged the first and the second runner-up, in that order, on Saturday at the RCEMPA in Jotsoma near Kohima. In the sub-title category, Siddhart Chethri was adjudged Mr. Popular; Mr. Personality Kevingunyü Mere; Mr. Talent Therinyio Epao;  Mr Photogenic Teno G Swu; North East Best Reader’s Choice Marükho, while the titles for Mr. Physique and Mr. Fame went to Kikrupfelie Neikha. The Mr. Kohima 2019 pageant was choreographed by Johnny D’Ascolie. It was a night of glitz and glamour as the 18 contestants took the stage to wearing modern ethnic, casual and modern dresses besides dancing to music. After fourth round, the top-5 contestants were shortlisted for the question and answer round from which Kevingunyü Mere was declared the Mr. Kohima for 2019. During the question and answer round, Mere was queried by one of the judges how if he were given the role to combat the traffic conditions in Kohima. He said that to combat the traffic problems, he would “definitely start educating people” and give a message to Nagaland that owing more number of cars should not be a matter of pride. Rather one should focus on the importance and benefits of public transportation which relieves road congestion, he said. Mere’s answer too seemed to have impressed the judges when his note was read out during the final round of deciding the winner. The top five contestants were given a minute to jot down ‘some of the things’ they will be contributing to the society if the win Mr. Kohima 2019 title. Mere noted that “he would lead by examples” and help needy children in the orphanages. He wished to inspire them with the message that “everything is possible in life.” The Mr. Kohima 2019 pageant is organised by Meraki Entertainment. It was a charity event intended to help the Bright Morning Star Children Home with financial aid. The home is an orphanage located at Perizhie colony in Kohima. (Our Correspondent)
