DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13: Altogether 472 households of Kevijau colony in Dimapur received the Priority Household (PHH) and AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) ration cards on Saturday under the supervision of Superintendent of Food and Civil Supplies, Dimapur, N Jamonger Ao.
At a programme for distribution of ration cards for the beneficiaries of Kevijau colony, organized by the colony council, Jamonger sensitised the gathering on the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the measures the Food and Civil Supply (FCS), Dimapur, would take into account with the help of the respective village councils and Gaon Buras. He also made it clear to the beneficiaries to bring their grievances to the department through the village council or Gaon Buras. He said complaint should be made when the department fail to address their grievances.The beneficiaries, most of whom were perplexed about the whole process of the Act, heaped queries upon the Superintendent where he clarified their doubts. He also informed that a new fair price shop has been identified as per the new Act of PHH adding the fair price shop in Kevijau colony would be run under the name of M/S Jacob Achumi. He also informed that beneficiaries can collect their entitlement from their respective fair price shop which will be open three days in a week from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Jamonger, to ensure that the beneficiaries were well informed on the Act and entitlement, informed that the department will conduct inspecting in fair price shops for smooth execution of the NFSA.
Reiterating on the Act, he elucidated that under AAY an eligible beneficiary is entitled to receive 35 kg of rice per ration card holder at a subsidised price of Rs 3/kg per month, while the PHH eligible beneficiary is entitled to receive 5 Kg of rice to each member of the family at a subsidised price of Rs 3/kg per month.
