Dimapur, April 23
New member of the Rajya Sabha for Nagaland, KG Kenye, has said that the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has no ‘inclination’ to any underground group. Rather, the party’s only endeavour is that the “peace talks” and search for a solution.
KG Kenye, also the secretary general of the NPF, was addressing inauguration of the party’s 5th Ghaspani-II assembly constituency unit office at Medzhephema, under Dimapur district, on April 23.
“Of late, the NPF party is being accused of supporting or inclining towards particular faction saying that the party is patronizing NSCN-IM on the other hand, it is accused of inclining towards NNC as president was a former member of NNC, and accusing as party to NSCK-K for sending Hohos to talk to the leaders at Burma, etc.,” Kenye said. He was quoted in a press release from the organizers on Saturday.
“However, it is to appeal to all concern to remain clear that the party Conscience is very clear that since 1963 first Naga cease-fire till date peace talk and political settlement remains our utmost agenda.”
Today, he said. There are many underground factions and splinter groups which were “not our creation.” The party has so far maintained its principal position when it comes to the Naga “national” aspiration. “As the party still maintained its declared position, that it will extend support, strategic and logistic to any group that is at talk with the GoI,” he said.
The politician also reminded that the life and times of the Naga people have changed. “In less than 50 years time Naga people’s life style has drastically changed and lost old traditional value of brave, honesty, upright, good characters and started living lavishly on artificial style without cross checking their earnings.”
He assured that the NPF “will re evaluate our old traditional value of life and hard working living, honesty and strong moral character.”
The MP congratulated the party workers of the constituency “for remaining steadfast during political upheaval and remained firmed and guarded.”
“The major part of the onslaught was faced by the Dimapur division. With such spirit the party shall regain its ground. It has to be clear that the government has to function according to party manifesto,” he said.
Also, he said that the party has ‘revoked all 9 dissident MLAs suspension order’ and ‘revoked 21 disqualification process based on reconciliation.’ However, ‘if someone is still trying to over act, the party functions under its constitutional provision,’ he cautioned.
