
KISAMA — Kelhoudelie, representing the Angami tribe, won the Traditional Shot Put competition held on day two of the 25th Hornbill Festival at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama.
The competition was organised by the state department of Youth Resources and Sports.
Kelhoudelie secured his victory by throwing the approximately 10-kilogram stone a distance of 15.8 feet. His skill earned him an INR 7000 cash prize.
Likho Sangma of the Garo community, the defending champion, delivered a strong performance, achieving a throw of 15.7 feet to claim second place and an INR 5000 prize. Kaiser from the Chang tribe secured third position with a 14.9-foot throw, earning INR 3000.
A Stilt Bamboo Race is scheduled for December 3.
