PARLIAMENTARY Secretary for Horticulture of Nagaland Kejong Chang called on Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh on September 24 at the official residence of the latter. The Nagaland MLA was accompanied by Secretary for Horticulture, N Benjamin Newmai, Director of Horticulture Watienla Jamir and Joint Director of Horticulture Pawan Kumar.
During the interaction, the parliamentary secretary apprised the union minister about the various development activities undertaken up by the department of Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, “for all round development of horticulture in Nagaland which is the mainstay of farmers in the state and the problems therein,” according to a press release issued by the parliamentary secretary’s office on Saturday.
According to the legislator, Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh assured the Naga politician and his team that he will “look into the matter and take up appropriate measures to give a boost to the horticulture development in the state.”
The union minister also informed of a meeting with all agriculture and horticulture of the North East States, to be held on October 18 in Shillong to discuss developmental activities in the agriculture and allied sectors in the north east region. The parliamentary secretary has also invited the union minister to Nagaland to witness the development of horticulture in Nagaland. The union minister “responded positively,” the press release stated.
