The Kohima District Football Association will launch the Kohima District Football Championship 2026 in August and inducted new officials to strengthen football development.

DIMAPUR — The Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) has tentatively scheduled the 1st Kohima District Football Championship 2026 for August and announced a series of developmental initiatives including a coaching camp and grassroots tournament.
In a press release issued after a meeting held on February 12 evening at 2K Hotel, Kohima, the association said new members were inducted to fill existing vacancies in the KDFA Team (2025–29). The programme was chaired by M. Mathew Yhome, while Khriengulie Rio invoked blessings at the commencement of the meeting.
The association inducted Kevilebei Zashümo as Technical Director; Dzieseneituo Belho as Director of Referees; Kevineinuo Tsochü as Women Coordinator; and Pezavituo George Vizo, Zakielatuo Seletsu and Vizovor Liezietsu as Executive Members. Ketholetuo Khezhie was also inducted as Executive Member.

According to the association, the newly inducted members’ experience and expertise are expected to strengthen the functioning of the KDFA and contribute to the growth of football in the district.
KDFA further informed that the proposed meeting with registered players of the association, earlier scheduled after its first meeting held on February 1, has been postponed to February 28, at 3 pm at Hotel 2K, Kohima.
As part of its developmental initiatives, the association resolved to organise a coaching camp during the summer school break, followed by a grassroots tournament for the under-10 and under-13 categories.
Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening football at all levels in the district, the association called upon stakeholders to extend continued support.
