The KCCI Inter-ward Futsal Championship commemorating 50 years begins in Kohima with 15 wards participating.

KOHIMA — The three-day Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) Inter-ward Futsal Championship in commemoration of its golden jubilee began at Khuochiezie Kohima Local Ground in Kohima on Thursday, with a total of 15 wards participating in the sporting event.
The tournament is managed by Kohima Town Club in collaboration with Kohima District Football Association and Kohima Press Club.
Chairman of Kohima Municipal Council Neibodzelie Solo, in his address, said initiatives like this bring together wards and the people while providing youth a platform to demonstrate their talent, channel their energy positively, and learn far beyond the playing field.
President of KCCI, Ruokuoneilie Kesiezie, stated that trade is the foundation of every society, adding that a town grows strong and stable when people trade.

However, trade also needs a community behind it, such as people who show up every day and keep business moving, he said, noting that a healthy society needs to come together often to renew old bonds, understand one another, and stand as one.
He noted that the 50 years of KCCI mark five decades of hard work by traders, elders, and the people of Kohima, who worked day after day, grew businesses from small beginnings, and shaped both the marketplace and the town.
He also urged citizens to protect the strong cultural bonds, trust between neighbours, and shared sense of duty to the town that predecessors built, even as digital technology changes Kohima. He added that technology cannot replace people standing together and taking responsibility for one another.
