KOHIMA — The Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC)
women department celebrated its silver jubilee at Koinonia Prayer Centrein
Tsiesema Basa on Wednesday on the theme "... Rejoice, highly favoured one,
the Lord is with you..." (Luke 1:28).
- Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo, founder and senior pastor of
Koinonia Baptist Church and Principal of Kohima Bible College, was the speaker,
stated an update from the Koinonia media ministry.
- In his message, Rev. Kiewhuo stated that a godly woman is
more precious than a ruby. He also highlighted the stories of godly women from
the Bible such as Hannah, Ruth, Esther, Rahab and many others, whose decisions
changed the course of history and often served as a source of inspiration and
challenge for women. He added those women overcame their trials and persevered
in faith, adding that they overturned curses into blessings.
- The speaker stated that women were the strongest and boldest
during the time of Jesus. He cited instance of Mary Magdalene, who Jesus had
cleansed of seven demons, followed Jesus to the crucifixion site. She also
arrived at Jesus' tomb early in the morning when men were hiding in fear and
insecurity.
- Rev. Kiewhuo said Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the epitome
of forgiveness. He asserted that Mary, seeing her dear son cruelly slain and
betrayed by religious leaders, forgave them though it tore her heart in agony.
He added that Mary, the sister of Martha, chose to be at Jesus' feet rather
than doing daily chores because she knew God's word was her priority.
- He stated that the Bible is full of stories of courageous
women who overcame great obstacles to do God's will, adding that their lives
are testaments to the power of faith and perseverance.
- In this regard, he called upon the women to emulate the
women of the Bible by standing strong in the Lord and continue working
zealously for Him through Christian ways of prayer, generous giving and
outreach ministry.
- He further dwelt on the uniqueness of each woman in the
sight of God, stating that they are all highly favoured and urged them to
rejoice.
