The sports meet, which was attended by nearly five hundred children, was graced by the Commandant of 44th AR, Col KS Kataria as the chief guest. The Colonel, while kicking off the sports meet, told the children that they are the future generation of India and added that their teachers are there to help them become responsible citizens of the country. Saying that sports is not only about winning or losing, Col Kataria assured that the armed forces is always ready to help the people. In this regard, he pointed out that the armed forces have brought a lot of laurels in the field of sports. Saying that he has observed that the students from northeast have a lot of potentials, the colonel said that the country has high hopes on the northeast youths. The KBC (Youth Ministry) Associate Pastor, Dr R Zulu Jamir delivered the welcome address while Christina, a young girl, serenaded the audience with her rendition of the song 'Hero'. Meanwhile, the children were divided into five different houses - Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Elijah and Ezra - and the activities were further subdivided into 'senior, junior and sub-junior'. The children thoroughly enjoyed the different activities like penalty shootouts, race and relay-race, basketball shots, musical chairs, bursting of balloons etc. Prizes were given to the winners of the different activities. It may be noted here that Kumlong Baptist Church is one of the biggest churches in Mokokchung town. It covers two wards - Kumlong and Mongsenbai - and the enrolment in the Christian Education Ministry is a thousand children. Furthermore, the KBC Christian Education Ministry expresses heartfelt gratitude to the 44th AR, the Commandant Col KS Kataria, the Sunday school teachers, the students and the parents for making the sports meet a grand success.
