Diphu, June 4 (EMN): The Karbi Anglong Sand & Stone Mahaldar and Suppliers Association (KASSMSA), Manja decided to raise the rates of sand from at INR 22 per cfty to INR 37 per cfty.
The decision was made during a meeting held on June 1.
A press comminque issued by the KASSMSA on June 4 mentioned that the rate of sand had to be increased due to the rise in the government's new sand mahal bidding and also rise in the government royalty of forest department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
Also, the statement mentioned that the sand mahaldar suffered much on payment of the royalty. In this regard the association in the release requested the buyers and sellers of sand to bear the inconveniences.
The new rate of sand is said to be effective from June 10.
