Diphu, Sep.28 (EMN): The Karbi Students Association (KSA-Inglongpho) has appealed the chief ministers of Assam to discuss border issue with the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Nagaland and solve the problem at the earliest.
Addressing a press conference at KSA office on Sep. 28, the association president, Bijoy Bey informed that on Sep. 26, an interaction session was convened by Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami with students, social and political leaders of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The members discussed the matter related to socio-economic uplift of the hill districts of Assam - Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao.
Tuliram Ronghang, chief executive member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council highlighted the issue of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao and urged for immediate implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian constitution.
He also informed that a special session for the three hills district of Assam will be held on Oct. 5.
During an interaction, the president said that the members present listed their demands before the speaker… immediate implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution; an autonomous state which is the long standing demand of the three hills district of West Karbi Anglong , Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao the then NC Hills.
They also mentioned the Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswas assurance to set up three science colleges in Karbi Anglong.
The KSA further requested all the legislators of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao to table the Autonomous State Article 244(A) of the constitution during the ongoing Assam assembly session.
