Diphu, Oct 26(EMN) : A press communiqué issued by the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) and its allied organisations Students and Youth for Justice (SYJ); Students and Youth Council (SYC); and others, stated it will organize road blockade demonstration at Manja Tinali on October 28 from 10 am to 03 pm to stop vehicles from plying on NH-36 and the Diphu-Manja road in protest against "Greater Independent Nagalim Extension" to Karbi Anglong for a total of 7399 square Km area in a framework agreement on August 3 between the Naga underground group NSCN(IM) and the Bharatiya anata Party (BJP) government in New Delhi.
The press statement also stated that there are some political leaders who were at some time Congress and BJP workers had taken initiatives to merge Karbi Anglong into Nagaland during the 1970s. The KSA stated that they were known as "Nagaland Merger Party" and have even participated in the then election and now they have started their secret campaign over the issue.
“It is the Congress’ second coming in the name of BJP to merge Karbi Anglong to Nagaland. The encroachment of Lahorijan, Dillai, Hidipi have destroyed virgin forests along the border areas of Karbi Anglong. It is also an eye witness that illegal construction by thousands of people from Nagaland without any disturbances from Forest Department of Karbi Anglong while the state government became a silent spectator are all parts of such conspiracy,” the KSA stated.
The KSA and their allied organisations appealed to the authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to convene urgent special session to oppose "Nagalim extension" to Karbi Anglong and the BJP-NSCN(IM) frame work agreement.
The KSA also appealed the Karbi Dimasa Council to reject the BJP game plan for granting ST(Hills) status to the Bodos living in the hills districts before granting Autonomous State under Article 244(A). The press statement was appended by its president Simeon Rongphar and secretary Thomson Rongpi.
