Diphu, Sep.8 (EMN): The Karbi Film Society (KFS) is organising its 4th general conference at Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso, Diphu, on September 10 and 11.
Addressing a press conference at Taralangso, KFS president, Dhaniram Tisso, said during the two-day conference, there will be an election for constitution of a new KFS team for the next three-year tenure.
Apart from the election, national award-winning Karbi films like ‘Kachichinitu,’ ‘Vosobipo’ and Prag Cine Award-winning film ‘Hai-i-mu will be screened.
The KFS will also felicitate eminent artists and personalities like Padmashree Dhaneswar Engti, producer and director of ‘’Kachichinithu’ Khanjan Kishore Nath, former executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and founder president, KFS, filmmaker and renowned singer, Bidyasing Rongpi, founder secretary, KFS, Semson Terang, renowned singer Pokhila Lekthepi and retired deputy director of Arts & Culture department, KAAC, Hemari Tokbi.
Tisso also informed that an MoU will be signed between KFS and Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute (SRFTI) for development and promotion of Karbi films.
The KFS president earlier met the DEAN of SRFTI, Bipin Vijay, at Kolkatta on September 6 and discussed the overall development of films with special reference to Karbi films.
The SRFTI, an autonomous society funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and KFS, a welfare organization for all-round development of film and film fraternity, will soon organise a joint workshop at KPH, Taralangso, Tisso said.
The KFS has invited chief executive member of KAAC, Tuliram as the chief guest for the felicitation programme on September 11.
