Karbi Anglong wins U-19 Girls Khel Maharan football tournament

DIPHU — The five-day Under - 19 Girls Khel Maharan State Level Football Tournament concluded with Karbi Anglong bagging the championship title at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium on Friday.

In a nail-biting contest, the final match between the Karbi Anglong and Dibrugarh girls ended with neither of the teams scoring at the end of 60 minutes. However, Sonali Basumatary of Karbi Anglong converted a free kick into a goal during the 10-minute additional time, sealing a victory for her team.

The champions and the runners-up were awarded with trophies and medals during the closing ceremony, which was attended by Executive Member (EM) of KAC, Lunsing Teron; District Commissioner, Madhumita Bhagawati; General Secretary of KASA, Dr. Pankaj Teron; District Sports Officer, Rilip Ronghang; and several other sportspersons.

Sonali Basumatary of Karbi Anglong was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
