Karbi Anglong observes 400th birth anniversary of Vir Lachit Barphukan

Diphu, Nov. 24 (EMN): As part of the ongoing week-long celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Vir Lachit Barphukan, the statue of Vir Lachit Barphukan was unveiled at Sukapha Bhawan, Dharamnala in Diphu by DC KarbiAnglong, Madhumita Bhagawati, ACS on Thursday.

A mobile street play of Vir lachit Barphukan was displayed by noted Assam and Karbi film actor Rajiv Kro and his team.

The DC said that the weeklong celebration including various programmes and activities are being taken up across the district. Marathon races, awareness programme and seminars on Barphukan, traditional sports, cleanliness drives, essay writing competitions and mobile street plays have been held at various locations.

Meanwhile, the Diphu Medical College & Hospital Employees Association with the staff on Nov. 23 celebrated the 400th birth anniversary of Vir Lachit Borphukan by organising games and sports at Diphu Govt Boys Higher Secondary School playground.
