
DIMAPUR —The Karbi Anglong Naga Union (KANU) held a launching-cum-general public meeting on Saturday at the public ground in Borlengri, Karbi Anglong. The primary objective of the meeting was to establish the Karbi Anglong Naga Union.
According to a press release, the union was formed with the aim of fostering unity, peace, and fraternity among the various sections of society and to defend and protect the rights and integrity of the people living in Karbi Anglong, Assam.
The programme was presided over by Lichumse Sangtam, vice president, while the invocation was pronounced by K Mahjih, pastor of Yimkhiung Baptist Church, Borlengri.
The presidential address was delivered by Anilo Rengma, while Mhao Odyuo, spokesperson of KANU, highlighted the formation of the union. H Thong, advisor, introduced the newly selected office bearers.
The dedicatory prayer for the newly selected office bearers was led by Rev. Dr. Bendang, pastor of Union Baptist Church, Karbi Anglong and the secretary general's report was presented by K Tsongs Naga.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Holuto Awomi, secretary of culture. Benediction was pronounced by Rev. Lumtsu Ezung, executive secretary of the Nagamese Baptist Church Association, Nagaland.
