Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council trade license to replace business registration certificates in Karbi Anglong

• DIPHU — In a significant development for business community of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), in its notification, has announced the discontinuation of business registration certificates (BRC) issued by town committees and municipal boards.

• This decision follows Resolution No. 10 of the 17th executive committee meeting (13th KAAC), held on March 17, 2025. Now, the trading license issued by the department of Taxation, KAAC, would be the sole document required for business activities within KAAC's jurisdiction.

• Municipal boards and town committees under KAAC would issue ‘No Objection Certificates’ (NOC) to support KAAC trading license applications, replacing BRC. The NOC would be required for both non-tribal and tribal applicants from KAAC.

• Moreover, the existing BRC for 2025-26 must be converted to NOC for KAAC trading licenses using the format in Annexure-A. The converted NOC should be submitted to the superintendent of taxes, Department of Taxation, KAAC, promptly.
