Dimapur, Dec. 9 (EMN): The Kuhuboto-Aghunaqa-Khaghaboto Union (KAKU) celebrated its silver jubilee at Kuhuboto town on Dec. 9 with MLA Jacob Zhimomi as the chief guest who also unveiled the jubilee’s commemorative monolith.
Addressing a gathering comprising of KAK members, GBs and leaders of the three areas, Jacob congratulated the union on celebrating silver jubilee and paid respect to the pioneers who started the union 25 years ago and worked for the welfare of the people in various capacities.
He said jubilee is the time to retrospect and renew commitment for which the union was formed and to strive for the betterment of the people without any biasness.
Stating that the society needs drastic change, he said it was the responsibility of all individuals to bring about the change in the society. He also called upon the public leaders to prioritise development of the society and work collectively by supporting one another.
Jacob also called upon the people to seriously ponder upon the initiative of NBCC for clean election and to resolve themselves to adhere to the pledge of the churches council so as to pave way for a changed society.
KAK founding members namely Dr. Nihoto P. Chishi, head GB of Nihoto village and union political advisor, and Dr. LK Achumi, head GB of Luhevi village and union legal advisor, delivered short speeches. Outgoing KAK union president Shiwoto Yepthomi also spoke on the occasion.
Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, WSBAK executive secretary, offered dedicatory prayer for jubilee monolith, while Rev. Nikheto Kiho, WSBAK mission promoter, released the jubilee souvenir and prayed for the office bearers and members of the union.
Former chief minister KL Chishi also attended the function. A new team of office bearers led by Apeto Assumi, head GB Khutovi village as president, was also installed.
