Kaito hits back at NFHRCC, calls for civility in public discourse
G Kaito Aye has reminded the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFRCC) that public discourse thrives on civility, not arrogance.
- DIMAPUR — Minister
for PWD (R&B) G Kaito Aye has reminded the Nagaland Foothills Road
Coordination Committee (NFRCC) that public discourse thrives on civility, not
arrogance.
- In a rejoinder issued on Friday, the senior minister
asserted that the state government remains committed to amicably resolving all
concerns revolving around the Foothill Road construction.
- “However, baseless accusations and character assaults with
unjustified use of language must be condemned in the strongest terms.
Ceremonial launch for commencement of work is the sole choice of the
contractor.
- “Your demand for an apology over the launching programme is
ill-conceived. It neither requires your endorsement nor any theatrical demand
for regret. I owe no apology. But should the project fail to deliver, I will
personally apologise. I have been deeply hurt by your personal vendetta on my
personality; let me remind you, I am for the project and for the welfare of the
people, not for your individual confrontation,” the rejoinder read.
- Kaito advised the committee to reflect on the weight of its
words and mind the language.
- “In my long years of public service, I have been educated by
the people of Nagaland – their aspirations, struggles and trust. Respect is
earned, not demanded.
- “If your intent is truly for progress, redirect your energy
towards solving challenges and not manufacturing them. The doors to my office
remain open for discussion to resolve the issue amicably,” he stated.
