KOHIMA, JULY 2: The Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA), under its community service project ‘Creating Awareness for Restoration of Environment’ (CARE), organised a cleanliness drive today from Lerie colony to High School area in Kohima town.
KABA-CARE has been making a continuous stride towards a greener and cleaner Kohima and some of its initiatives include spreading civic awareness to members, cleanliness drives and beautification of pedestrian overbridges in Kohima, logistically and administratively supported by the Kohima Municipal Council.
For the social work this morning, each of the seven fellowships under KABA were specifically assigned an area to be cleaned, which involved picking up of trash and waste for proper disposal. Members of Kohima Ao Baptist Church, both young and old, took part in the cleanliness drive, supervised by KABA CARE committee comprising leaders from respective fellowships.
It was informed that the aim of the community cleanliness drive was to keep the city streets clean and at the same time, inject awareness among the denizens of Kohima, about the dire need to sustain our future through greener means.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the cleanliness drive, KABA Youth Director, Tiatoshi Longkumer said that at a time when the global community is rooting for sustainable development goals, access to quality sanitation is one of the key goals.
Keeping this in mind, KABA CARE advocates for every individual towards the upkeep of cleanliness and to make Kohima a greener and cleaner capital.
Supplementing to this, convener KABA-CARE, Lipoksungkum Imsong highlighted that while focusing on sustainable development goals and making a cleaner, greener capital town, the KABA-CARE holds the hope that their small yet sincere efforts and initiatives would take Kohima a step forward towards achieving the Smart City tag.
The KABA-CARE cleanliness drive coincides and corresponds also to the mass cleanliness drive organized by the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) Youth Department in all the Ao Baptist churches under ABAM in the wake of ABAM Youth Sunday as well as the NBCC Youth Day of Prayer which will be observed on July 3 in all churches under ABAM.
