Diphu, March 22 (EMN): For the immediate implementation of Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed in the year 2011, the leaders of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) led by Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang along with his colleagues met the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju at his Minister Official’s Chamber in New Delhi on Thursday March 22.
According to the information, a prolonged discussions was made between the leaders of KAAC and the Union minister regarding immediate implementation of Memorandum of Settlement (MoS). Rijiju is said to have assured all co-operation with regard to the demand being apprised by the dignitaries for early implementation, sources added.
KAAC, Chairman Horensing Bey, Dr Mansing Rongpi MLA and MACs including Mongol Sing Timung, Lunsing Teron, Ramsing Timung and OSD on MoS Elwin Teron accompanied the CEM.
Mention can also be made that a tripartite Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) was signed between the Central Government, Government of Assam and United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) on November 25 2011 in the presence of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi which marked as a historic moment. The MoS provides enhanced autonomy for Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council in Assam and also a special package for speedier socio-economic and educational development of the area for which the Council has been set up. It has been already six years of completion of MoS signing.
