Diphu, Jan. 22 (EMN): The chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, ceremonially distributed cheques of INR 30,000 as first instalment under Redesigned Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth Empowerment (Re- SVAYEM) scheme to local youths for promoting income generating activities in a function held at Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso, here on Friday.
The function was organised by Karbi Anglong district administration.
Distributing the cheques, Ronghang stated that it is a state government flagship scheme for developing income generating activities for the youths. A total of 2,304 youths from 273 Self Help Groups (SHG) in Karbi Anglong would benefit from the scheme.
Under Re-SVAYEM scheme, SHG comprising of five or ten boys and girls are formed so that they could generate income in different livelihood activities. Each SHG would receive financial assistance of INR. 50,000. Each SHG would received INR 20,000 in second instalment.
Lauding the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ronghang said, “Under Narendra Modi the BJP-led government has launched several schemes for development of various sections of people.” He added that various central and state sponsored schemes being implemented in Karbi Anglong have benefit the people.
Regarding Diphu Medical College, he stated that the construction has been completed with an amount of INR 194 crore adding the classes would commence from February 2. He added that Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the Health minister Dr. Himanta Biswas Sarma would formally inaugurate the classes.
He also announced that a 200 bedded hospital at Hamren in West Karbi Anglong and a civil hospital at Bokajan would be set-up. He also stated that a 1,071 km PWD roads between Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong have improved.
Besides the existing lone government college in Diphu, he stated that the government has set-up one more government college at Deithor. He further stated that an amount of INR 24 crore has been sanctioned for construction of four residential schools.
