KAAC calls on late Sumila Ronghangpi’s parents

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang visited the residence of late Sumila Ronghangpi in Gudam Ronghang village under Duar-Amla Member of Council constituency, west Karbi Anglong on Sunday.

During the visit, CEM laid the foundation of stone for construction of English Medium Residential School building (ME and high school) with highly-equipped infrastructure in memory of late Sumila Ronghangpi, along with the erection of a statue in front of the school.

The family members were given a cheque for INR 10,00,000 as compensation from the CEM relief fund. Meanwhile, the family also received a cheque of one month's salary from all 26 MACs, including the MP, four MLAs and board chairman for construction of a house.

It was informed that in memory of Late Sumila Ronghangpi, a weaving centre under the Handloom and Textile department would be established. Meanwhile, in Gudam Ronghang village, paving block roads for pedestrians and vehicular traffic will be installed, as well as an RCC Ring well for drinking water.

Speaking to journalists, Ronghang assured that within this year he would gradually implement the development works of Gudam Ronghang village from the authority of KAAC.

CEM Ronghang was accompanied by Member of Parliament, Horensing Bey, EMs, MACs and other dignitaries.

Sumila Ronghangpi, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly burnt alive to death by the owners of the house she was staying as a domestic help on April 22 at Raha, Nagoan district.
