Diphu, Dec. 18 (EMN): To spread the message to the public to take issues of sanitation and cleanliness seriously, the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) and other social and students organisations jointly organised cleanliness drives in Diphu Market town areas on Dec. 18 Mon. morning.
The journalists and students organisations came together as one and undertook cleanliness drive along the main M. G road in Diphu market because of the strike called by the Diphu town Committee sweepers since one week.
The Diphu town market remained littered with bins along the road hampering the commuters. During the cleanliness drive, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Executive Member, Ratan Teron in charge Town and Country Planning also attended.
While talking to media persons the executive member expressed his dismay over the ongoing strike called by the Diphu town committee sweepers section.
The town committee is an autonomous body, there is not connection with the council so all the town committee affairs have to be looked by themselves.
The organisations who took part in the cleanliness drive were KSYC, KYO, LYDC, ULDC, KSYA and UKSA.
