Diphu, August 28 (EMN): Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), Dimasa Students’ Union (DSU), Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA), Dimasa Women Society (DWS), Students & Youth Council (SYC), Women Council (WC), All India Students Association (AISA) and Students Youth for Justice (SYJ) jointly organised a msarch to Guwahati for demand of separate Autonomous State of 244(A) of the Indian Constitution at Dighalipukhuri, Guwahati today.
The memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamrup (Metro) Guwahati. More than two thousand students and women’s organisations from Dima Hasoa and Karbi Anglong attended in the demonstration programme.
The demands points of the students organisations which include withdrawal of clause-8 of BLT Accord (No ST( H) status to Bodos before granting Autonomous state; stop imposition of Assamese language in the Hills area (not repeat 1960 Assamese language Act); oppose political TET; SIU and PIU in the hill district; no to compulsory Sanskrit language in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasoa; resolve border dispute problem immediately; deport influx “outsider illegal” citizen from the land of hills district’; reservation of 95% MAC seat in Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council area for hill tribals; hand over law and order and Police department to Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasoa Council and 100 % reservation for ST(H) in educational institutions; and employment in Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasoa Autonomous Council and the Assam government must constitute CBI enquiry on corruption under all the departments of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasoa Autonomous Council.
